Baldinelli Scores Twice in Loss Against Wilkes

PITTSTON, PA (Nov. 22, 2023) - - Jayden Baldinelli scored both of the Monarchs' goals Saturday evening in King's College men's ice hockey team's 6-2 loss against the Wilkes University Colonels at Revolution Ice Centre. The Monarchs are now 2-5-0 overall this season and 2-3-0 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). 

Wilkes came out quick at the start of play scoring the first goal of the game just 3:32 minutes in during power play. However, the Colonels did not keep their lead for long when the Monarchs tied up the game 1-1 14:35 into the period. Jayden Baldinelli found the back of the net with assistance from Brendan Krawczyk and Cameron Bauer. Wilkes came back to take the lead for the remainder of the game when the team scored its second goal of the night in power play again with just a minute and a half left in the first period. 

The Colonels continued to build on their lead through the second period notching four more goals to go into the third with a 6-1 lead over the Monarchs. King's continued to fight back in the third period, preventing Wilkes from scoring again and earning a second goal for itself. Baldinelli notched his second goal of the night 12:44 into the third period with assists from Bauer and Krawczyk again. The Colonels ultimately won the game 6-2.

Bauer led the Monarchs on offense with four shots, while Diego D'Alessandro and Matt Bindi had 14 and six saves in goal respectively on the defensive end of things.

The Monarchs get a rematch with the Colonels this weekend at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday Nov. 26 at 3 p.m.
