SCRANTON, PA (February 23, 2023) --- The Kings's College women's lacrosse team took the short trip up to Marywood, falling to the Pacers 20-3. With the loss, King's falls to 0-2 on the season, while Marywood improves to 2-0.

Marywood (2-0) started quickly, scoring just a minute into the contest as Avery Meighan found the back of the net. King's (0-2) responded just over two minutes later, as first-year
Sarah Schultz connected with her first career goal with 11:54 to play to tie the game at one. The Pacers wasted no time jumping back in front, retaking the lead just over 40 seconds later on a tally from Kaitlyn Smith. Marywood pushed the lead to 3-1 with 8:26 to play in the quarter on Meighan's second goal, before sophomore
Ashley Dias tallied her first collegiate goal on a free position shot, to cut the lead to 3-2, with 3:38 to play. Marywood tallied four late goals, to take a 7-2 lead after the first quarter.

The Pacers continued their run with five straight goals to push the lead to 12-2. Junior
Olivia Benner cut into the deficit just before halftime, scoring with two seconds left off an assist from sophomore
Kyleigh Dunworth, to make it a 12-3 game at the half. Marywood scored four goals in both the third and fourth quarters, to come away with the 20-3 victory.

Sidney Bush started in the cage, finishing with 13 saves on 25 shots in the first half, before senior
Jessie Smalley came in for the second half, making six saves on 14 shots. The Monarchs were led on offense by Schultz, Dias, and Benner who all recorded one goal and added two shots on goal. As a team, King's forced five turnovers, led by senior
Brynn Pike's two caused turnovers, while the Monarchs finished with seven draw controls, led by sophomore
Gabby Lucchesi's three. King's finished the contest going 1-3 on free position shots.

Emily Dyminski got the start in goal, making four saves on seven shots, before being replaced at halftime by Kortney Harry who stopped the only shot she faced. Offensively, the Pacers were led by Kayla McCabe and Meighan who both recorded eight points, on six goals and two assists and five goals and three assists respectively. Marywood came away with 20 draw controls, forcing 14 Monarch turnovers, and finishing 2-6 on free position opportunities.

King's will return home as the Monarchs host Wilson College for the home opener on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
