WILKES-BARRE, PA (MARCH 11, 2023) --- The Kings's College men's lacrosse team hung tough, but ultimately fell to visiting Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at McCarthy Stadium 19-9. With the loss, King's falls to 0-5, while Lebanon Valley improves to 4-2 with the win.
Lebanon Valley (4-2) started the game on a 5-0 run, opening the scoring at 12:17 on a goal from Carson Frey, as the Flying Dutchmen's run ended at 2:56 on a goal from Colin Hughes. King's (0-5) responded with their first tally of the game at 1:54, when sophomore

Ryan Barnes to make it a 5-1 game after the first quarter. The second quarter was much more even, as the Flying Dutchmen notched four goals, and the Monarchs scored three. Lebanon Valley struck first in the frame, before first-year
Ryan Lynch found the back of the cage at 11:28, moving the score to 6-2. The Flying Dutchmen recorded two more goals, before Barnes scored at 5:56 and sophomore
Zach Webb scored at 2:41, which were sandwiched around another Lebanon Valley goal, as King's trailed 9-4 at the half.
The Flying Dutchmen opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run, to push the lead to 16-4 at 3:44. From there, the Monarchs tallied five of the final eight goals of the contest. Sophomore

EJ Schreiner connected with 35 seconds left, as Lebanon Valley led 17-6 heading to the fourth quarter. King's scored early in the fourth quarter on sophomore
Jack Wall's tally at 14:37. The Flying Dutchmen scored twice more, pushing the lead to 19-7, before Wall finished the scoring for either side, recording two more goals at 7:57 and 4:10, making the final score 19-9.
Senior
Joe Plachcinski made his first start of the season in the cage, finishing with 18 saves. Wall and Lynch paced the Monarchs attack, as both recorded three points, on three goals and one goal and two assists respectively. King's was strong in the face-off circle, winning 20 of 30 draws, led by junior
Redmond Cahill, who won 12 of 15 draws. The Monarchs caused 5 Flying Dutchmen turnovers, with Cahill and Schreiner leading the way with two forced turnovers each, while King's went 3-5 on man-up opportunities.
Kellen Markley got the start in goal and finished with 3 saves in just under 55 minutes of action, before being replaced by William Ward, who recorded four saves. Jake Bollinger led the Flying Dutchmen, tallying seven points on six goals and one assist. Lebanon Valley won 10 of 30 face-offs, while forcing the Monarchs into 16 turnovers.
King's hits the road, as the Monarchs head up to New York to take on Alfred University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Alfred, NY.
