FREDERICK, MD (MARCH 8, 2023) --- The Kings's College men's lacrosse team hit the road for a non-conference game against Hood College, falling to the Blazers 16-5 on Wednesday afternoon in Frederick, MD. With the loss, King's falls to 0-4, while Hood improves to 4-0 with the win.

Hood (4-0) started quickly as Robbie Wiley scored just under a minute into the contest to put the Blazers up 1-0 at 14:03. King's (0-4) responded as sophomore
Ben Spencer found the back of the cage at 12:59 to tie the game at one. Hood jumped back in front at 12:16 on a goal from Owen McDermott. The Monarchs answered with the next two goals, as first-year
Ryan Lynch tallied at 11:31, before sophomore
Jack Wall put King's in front for the first time, 3-2, at 7:31. Hood ended the half on a 6-0 run, scoring the final two goals of the first quarter, prior to recording all four markers in the second quarter, to take an 8-3 advantage into the half.

The Blazers continued their run into the third quarter, opening the frame by tallying the first four goals, extending the lead to 12-3 at 7:41. The Monarchs eventually ended the Hood run, when junior
Ryan Barnes connected with the cage at 4:11. The Blazers scored once more in the quarter, taking a 13-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Hood opened the fourth quarter with three straight goals, before sophomore
EJ Schreiner collected a pass from Lynch to make it a 16-5 game with 8:08 to play.

Senior
Matt Wall continued his run of play in the cage, finishing the contest with eight saves. Lynch paced the Monarchs attack, tallying two points, on a goal and an assist, while Barnes, Spencer, Schreiner, and
Jack Wall all added one goal. King's won five of 25 face-offs, as junior
Geno Casciello came away with five wins on 20 draws. The Monarchs caused forced 10 Blazer turnovers, with sophomore
Ryan Dolphin and Schreiner leading the way with two forced turnovers each. King's went 0-3 on man-up opportunities, while going 2-3 when down a man.

Alex Dudziak started in the cage, finishing with eight saves in just under 50 minutes of action, before being replaced by Calvin Morris, registering six saves, in just over 10 minutes of play. McDermott led the Blazers, tallying eight points on four goals and four assists, as Rio Muldoon registered six points on four goals and two assists. Hood won 20 of 25 face-offs, went 1-3 while up a man, 3-3 on man-down opportunities, forcing the Monarchs into eight turnovers.

King's will return home for a Saturday afternoon non-conference matchup, as the Monarchs host Lebanon Valley College at 1 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
