Lindsay Continues Strong Play as Women's Lacrosse Falls to Misericordia

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 1, 2023) --- The King's College women's lacrosse team fell to visiting Misericordia University 23-8 on Saturday from McCarthy Stadium. With the loss King's falls to 2-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Misericordia improves to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in MAC action.
 
Misericordia (4-6, 1-0) started quickly, scoring the first three goals of the contest to take a 3-0 lead at 10:41. King's (2-8, 1-1) got a goal back at 8:52, as sophomore Alli Lindsay found the back of the net. The Cougars responded with the next four goals, to push the lead to 7-1, before sophomore Grace Venis converted on a free position shot with 37 seconds left, to make it 7-2. Misericordia added another goal with one second left to take an 8-2 lead after the first quarter. The Cougars opened the second quarter with the first two goals, before the Monarchs answered with two goals of their own. Venis found the back of the cage on a man-up opportunity as Lindsay picked up the assist, followed quickly by a free position goal from sophomore Kyleigh Dunworth, cutting the deficit to 10-4 at 11:34. Misericordia ended the quarter on a 6-0 to take a 16-4 advantage into the half.
 
King's came out of the half flying, recording the first two goals of the frame. Dunworth scored on her second free position goal at 14:01, before Lindsay picked up her second goal of the contest at 10:55, cutting the Misericordia advantage to 16-6. Misericordia pushed the lead back to 11, until sophomore Chloe Burke connected on a free position goal at 4:20 making it a 17-7 game. The Cougars went on a 4-0 run spanning the end of the third quarter into the fourth, extending the lead to 21-7, before Lindsay completed her hat trick at 5:49 off an assist from Burke. Misericordia tallied tow more goals late in the quarter to come away with the 23-8 victory.
 
Junior Sidney Bush started in the cage and notched eight saves in the first half, before being replaced by senior Jessie Smalley at halftime, who recorded three saves. Lindsay led the Monarch attack, tallying four points on three goals and one assist, while Dunworth and Venis both added two goals, and Burke notched tow points on one goal and one assist. King's collected 14 of 32 draws, as Lindsay corralled seven draws, while Burke controlled three.
 
Lena Conway got the start in goal and finished with two saves in the first half, while Madelyn Uetz took over in the cage for the second half. Michelle Torzilli led the Misericordia attack, recording seven points on seven goals, while Kylee Cush added six points on two goals and four assists. The Cougars controlled 18 draws, while forcing the Monarchs into six turnovers.
 
King's heads back out on the road to take on FDU-Florham in a MAC Freedom contest on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Madison, NJ.
