CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 22, 2023) --
EJ Schreiner tallied four points to lead the offense, while
Matt Wall recorded 19 saves across three quarters to lead the King's College men's lacrosse team in a 20-8 setback at DeSales University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 0-13 overall and 0-6 in the conference, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-7 with a 5-1 conference mark.

King's (0-13, 0-6 MAC Freedom) trailed just 4-1 after the opening quarter thanks to a man-up goal from
Ben Spencer off an assist from Schreiner with 7:59 to go in the period, but DeSales (7-7, 5-1 MAC Freedom) would go on a tear to score six unanswered goals to open the second. Schreiner found the back of the net with 8:05 left in the half to put a stop to the Bulldogs run before the Monarchs faced a 14-2 deficit at the break.

The Monarchs tacked on two more in the third on back-to-back goals from
Ryan Lynch and
Ryan Barnes at the 6:03 mark and 5:33 mark, respectively, of the period as King's trailed 19-4 heading into the final quarter. King's then outscored DeSales 4-1 in the final 15 minutes of play, including unassisted goals from Schreiner, Barnes, and Spencer, while Schreiner fed
Jack Wall to round out the hot-scoring quarter in the 20-8 setback on the road.

Schreiner posted a team-high four points on two goals and two assists off a team-best 14 shots, while both Barnes and Spencer put up two points on a pair of goals each with Spencer adding two caused turnovers.
Brent Cassium caused two turnovers while picking up three ground balls, while both
Redmond Cahill and
Geno Casciello won six face offs for King's. Wall picked up the loss despite the valiant 19-save effort in the first three quarters with a team-high five ground balls, while
Jackson Campbell made two saves in the fourth.

A trio of Bulldogs put up four points in the win, led by Kellen Baklund who totaled four points on four goals off a team-high 10 shots. Dan Haag collected a team-best five ground balls while going 9-for-14 on face offs. Quinten Lyons earned the win as he made two saves in the first half, while TJ Lowe recorded a team-best four saves in 9:27 of action.

As a team, the Monarchs totaled 35 shots while out shooting the Bulldogs 15-9 in the final period. The King's defense forced 19 turnovers, while the team picked up 23 ground balls and had 15 successful clears.

The Monarchs will be back on the road on Wednesday evening as they travel to Glenside, Pa. to take on Arcadia University in the MAC Freedom contest at 7:00 p.m.
