WILKES-BARRE, PA (May 23, 2023) -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) released their 2023 All-District® Men's At-Large Teams on Tuesday afternoon. King's College athletics placed five on the list of this year's honorees, including wrestling sophomore Richard Fronheiser and senior Gus Petruske IV, men's volleyball senior Joe Herman and junior Jared Piontkowski, and men's ice hockey senior Tyler Sayger.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Fronheiser is coming off a breakout sophomore season as he posted a 17-15 overall record primarily in the 197 weight class while picking up the seventh-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. The  accounting and finance major also went on a four-match win streak from February 9 to February 17. Petruske was a staple in the Monarchs lineup this season at 125, going 22-8 overall with a fourth-place finish at the 2023 MAC Championships. The exercise science major also recorded podium finishes at the Ned McGinley Invitational and Racich Rumble. The pair each earn their first CSC Academic All-District® honors to complement nods on the NWCA Scholar All-America Team this season.

Herman picks up his second CSC Academic All-District® accolade after receiving the honor during the 2022 football season, while Piontkowski adds this recent achievement to his list of recognitions throughout his career. Herman, an exercise science physiology major, will graduate as the career leader in kills with 675, attack attempts at 1,728, digs with 427, aces at 89, and sets played at 249. Piontkowski collected his second consecutive All-MAC honors as he was named to the All-MAC Second Team.  He  ranked fourth in the MAC with 3.21 kills and 3.94 points per set, fifth with 1.91 digs per set, eighth in aces per set at 0.43, and eleventh in hitting percentage at .310. The Nanticoke, Pa. native also set the new program records for digs in a season with 170 and sets played with 89. The pair also helped lead King's to yet another successful campaign this season as they set the program record with 20 wins.

Sayger, a criminal justice major, collects his first All-District® honors in his highly successful career with the Monarchs. The Cheektowaga, N.Y. native was named to the All-MAC Honorable Mention team as he set single season records with four wins, a .929 save percentage, and a 3.08 goals against average, while his .929 save percentage this season led both the MAC and the UCHC. Additionally, the senior is now the career leader in wins with six, save percentage at .907, and goals against average at 3.98 in his time with the Monarchs.
