Monarchs Extinguished the Defenders of Clarks Summit

WILKES-BARRE, PA (SEPTEMBER 15, 2023) -- What a great start to homecoming weekend as the King's College women's volleyball team stood victorious against the Defenders of Clarks Summit (0-8) on Friday night. The Monarchs (6-1) had a clean sweep 3-0 in McGrane Gymnasium and now have a win streak of five.

The Monarchs controlled the first set right out of the gate. There was a team push that included multiple kills by Lindsay Arezina (Fy.), Joy Kindall (So.), Theresa Lynch (So.), Bella Salvia (So.), and Emma Bolich (Fy.). King's took the first set 25-3.

The second set was much like the first in this non-conference matchup. The Monarchs had six different attackers put points on the board to help the squad get closer to victory. With a final kill by Salvia, King's won 25-9.

In the third and final set of the evening, the Monarchs maintained their momentum. Emma Monson (Jr.) recorded four consecutive aces as King's inched their way to the finish line. The Monarchs eventually took the set 25-6.

King's finished with 35 kills, 30 assists, 38 digs, and a hitting percentage of 0.418. Salvia and Arezina led the Monarchs in kills with seven and Bolich followed with her own six. Keely Hoban (Jr.) dished out 21 assists. Morgan Williams (So.) had a team high of 16 digs.

Clarks Summit's Haley Bush had three kills. Ally Plantz had seven assists and Melanie Stabler had eight digs.

King's will be back in action for their first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom matchup of the season to battle against the Bulldogs of DeSales at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20th. The Monarchs will be back on home court for a tri-match on Saturday, September 23rd beginning at 11 a.m. to face off Keystone and will be taking on Mount Saint Mary at 3 p.m.
