MADISON, NJ (October 12, 2024) -- The King's College field hockey team opened their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 setback on the road at FDU-Florham. The Monarchs fall to 4-9 overall and 0-1 in the conference standings, while the Devils improved to 6-6 with a 1-0 conference mark.

The Devils came out to a hot start, firing off eight shots in the first period, but the King's (4-9, 0-1 MAC Freedom) stepped up and denied all of the early opportunities, including four saves from
Emily Bollinger.
Rowan Murray took two shots early to give the Monarchs a look at a score, but 9:14 into the second the FDU-Florham offense broke through then again in the 27
th minute as King's trailed, 2-0, at the break.

Despite giving up another pair of scores in the third, the Monarchs put together their best quarter in the game, out shooting FDU-Florham 9-4 and earning six penalty corners to just two for the Devils. The pace of play slowed in the fourth but not before the hosts could put an exclamation mark on the game as King's dropped their MAC Freedom opener, 5-0, at FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon.

Murray totaled five shots in the game, while
Davina Krappa added three. Bollinger made eight saves in the complete-game effort in the cage for the Monarchs.

Julianna Medina led the charge for the Devils with a hat trick of three goals on four shots, and Emily Schlesinger made seven saves in the combined shutout.

Inside the box score, King's faced a 19-11 edge in shots and 13-7 deficit in shots on goal while being narrowly beat, 8-6, in penalty corners in the contest.

The Monarchs return to their home turf at McCarthy Stadium on Wednesday night, taking on Lebanon Valley College in their MAC Freedom home opener at 7:00 p.m.
