Conover’s Late Goal Salvages 2-2 Draw with Lebanon Valley College

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 22, 2024) -- The King's College women's soccer team moves to 3-7-5, 2-1-1 MAC Freedom after tying Lebanon Valley College 2-2 Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium. The Flying Dutchmen will move to 6-7-2, 0-2-2 MAC Freedom with the draw.

The Flying Dutchmen struck first with a goal from first year forward Olivia Baldwin off an assist from Alison Sepkovic in minute 13. Later, in the 38th minute of play, first-year Maya Parker scored the equalizing goal off a weak-foot long ball that went right past Lebanon Valley goalkeeper Camryn Porter. Parker's goal tied her with junior midfielder Anya Chervak for the most goals scored so far this season with four. The score was 1-1 going into halftime.

Following a corner kick for the Flying Dutchmen in minute 72, Chloe Moser crossed the ball to Jordan Lasky at the front of the goal and she put it right over the goalkeeper's head to give Lebanon Valley the 2-1 lead. Seven minutes later, in minute 78, Lebanon Valley's Mikayla Mitchell was charged with a handball penalty, setting up Taryn Conover with a free kick with great field advantage in front of the goal. Conover's conversion was successful and tied the game 2-2 with 12 minutes remaining in the second half. This score remained as time expired.

In her second career start, first year goalkeeper Courtney Monard finished the night with two saves. Through 90 minutes, the Monarchs had 13 total shots with five on goal and Lebanon Valley had nine shots with four on goal.

King's is back in action on Saturday, October 26 as they host FDU-Florham for senior day at McCarthy Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
