ANNVILLE, PA (October 23, 2024) -- The King's College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley on Wednesday evening in their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest.

Lebanon Valley took control early during the first set in Sorrentino Gymnasium. The Monarchs (16-2, 0-5 MAC Freedom) would pester their hosts, but the Flying Dutchmen (13-9, 4-1 MAC Freedom) had every answer down the stretch. King's was down 19-10 when the squad created a 5-1 push that included
Mia Campanile (Jr.) and
Jessica Menze (Fy.). Though Lebanon Valley took the first set 25-17.

The Monarchs entered the second set with a three-point swing thanks to tallies by
Riley McArdle (Fy.). The Flying Dutchmen fired right back with a 20-2 run and from then on Lebanon Valley had all the momentum. King's made a final 5-2 jolt before falling 25-12 in the second set.

The third and final set was similar to the previous rounds. The Monarchs continued to chip away at their deficit, but the Flying Dutchmen stayed in the lead for the remainder of the matchup. King's created a 5-1 spurt that included Campanile,
Ashley Webber (Fy.), and
Hannah Swinsburg (Fy.). Lebanon Valley remained victorious 25-18.

Bella Salvia (Jr.) and Campanile led the Monarchs with six kills each.
Keely Hoban (Sr.) dished out 16 assists and had nine digs.
Brynn Giordano (So.) followed with her own eight digs.

The Flying Dutchmen's Taylor McInerney posted 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .640. Mattea Penner was right behind with 11 kills and Libby Lindau had 10. Sofia Okronley passed out 19 assists with nine aces, while Jasmine Sullivan added 18 helpers to the stat sheet. Abigail Souder collected eight digs and Teaguen Reynolds put up five blocks.

King's are back on the road on Saturday, October 26
th at 12 p.m. to take on the Lions of Albright. The squad will return for their final home game of season with a MAC Freedom match against Stevens at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29
th.
