WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 26, 2024) -- On Saturday afternoon, the King's College field hockey team honored its seniors,
Emma Clark and
Abby Varzaly, ahead of their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match up with Arcadia University. The Monarchs fell, 4-1, in the contest and drop to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while the Knights improved to 11-6 and remain unbeaten in the MAC Freedom at 5-0.

It was not long before the visiting Arcadia (11-6, 5-0 MAC Freedom) found the back of the cage, scoring on a lofted shot out of a set corner piece to take a 1-0 lead 1:20 into the game. The second saw the same results as the lofted shot out of the penalty corner put the Knights ahead, 2-0, 4:57 into the second. Despite battling down the stretch, King's (4-13, 0-5 MAC Freedom) trailed 2-0 at the break.

The Monarchs held off some early attacks by the Knights, but the visitors scored their third tally of the game with 53 ticks to go in the third and their final 2:06 into the fourth. King's turned up the intensity, securing four penalty corners in the fourth quarter, but all of their attempts fell short in the 4-0 setback to Arcadia on Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.

Shaylee Heffron led the team with three shots, while
Rowan Murray added one.
Emily Bollinger set a new single-game best with 11 saves in goal.

The Knights were led by Morgan McEntire with two goals and an assist, while Charli Rissmiller had seven shots. Anna Doblovosky posted the shutout while making one save.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on Delaware Valley. Game time in the MAC Freedom contest is set for 4:00 p.m.
