WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 29, 2024) -- The King's College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to the Ducks of Stevens during a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest in McGrane Gymnasium.

The Monarchs (16-9, 0-6 MAC Freedom) pestered the Ducks (20-6, 5-1 MAC Freedom) to start the first set and stayed on their opponents' tails. King's was down 7-4 when the Monarchs rallied with a 5-1 jolt thanks to
Kathy Shepherd (Jr.),
Keely Hoban (Sr.),
Jessica Menze (Fy.), and
Emma Bolich (So.) to take the lead. Though Stevens regained control and took the first set 25-16.

The visitors maintained their momentum in the second set and pushed on from the start. King's began to chip away at their deficit throughout the round, but the Ducks had every answer. The Monarchs lost 25-12 before heading into the third and final set.

It was a must win set for King's and the squad began with a 3-1 lead that included kills by
Bella Salvia (Jr.),
Theresa Lynch (Jr.), and Menze. Stevens answered back with their own 10-3 run to create a four-point cushion. The Monarchs would annoy their visitors, but the Ducks contained a steady lead. The score was 24-12 when King's made a final pursuit with back-to-back kills by
Adriana Conforti (Sr.) and Shepherd. Stevens ultimately remained victorious 25-14.

The Monarchs ended with 23 kills off of 23 assists and had 57 digs. Salvia led the team with six kills and Hoban dished out 21 helpers.
Morgan Williams (Jr.) sparked the defense with 18 digs.

The Ducks' Parker Adkins (Sr.) had nine kills with 10 digs. Molly Harris finished with 41 assists and Bailey Axelrad (Sr.) collected 19 digs.

King's will be on the road to take on Medgar Evers and Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 2
nd. The team will finish the season at FDU-Florham on Wednesday, November 6
th at 7 p.m. for a MAC Freedom battle.
