PURCHASE, NY (October 5, 2024) -- The King's College field hockey team defeated the Valiants of Manhattanville 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs are now 3-7 overall after their road win at GoValiants.com Field.

The Valiants (3-7) took the first shot of the game at 1:11, but the King's defense stayed strong and pushed their opponent out of their territory. The Monarchs capitalized off a penalty shot and
Davina Krappa found the back of the net with 5:06 left of the first quarter. The remainder of the first half was scoreless and King's headed into the locker room with a 1-0 advantage.

Following halftime, the third quarter was a battle as both teams traded shots.
Emma Bealla created several saves to help maintain the Monarchs one point lead. Manhattanville notched a penalty corner with 17 seconds left of the third quarter, but did not connect and King's went into the final quarter still ahead 1-0.

In the fourth and final quarter, the Valiants came at full force, but the Monarchs defense held their composure and did not allow any goals from their hosts. After a final shot by Manhattanville's Fiona Doherty, King's polished off a 1-0 victory.

The Monarchs recorded 12 shots and five shots on goal. Krappa took three shots and had the lone goal for the squad. Bollinger collected five saves for the afternoon in goal.

The Valiants had 10 shots and five shots on goal. Keira Guinan and Alyssa Monhan paced their team with three shots each. Hannah Doherty had four saves between the posts.

King's will be back in McCarthy Stadium on Monday, October 7
th at 4 p.m. as they host Marywood. The crew will take on Albright at home on Wednesday, October 9
th at 7 p.m.
