WILKES-BARRE, PA (DECEMBER 7, 2024) – The King's College men's ice hockey team secured a 6-0 win over the Cougars of Misericordia University on Saturday night at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park. With the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) win, the Monarchs move to 3-8-0, 2-6-0 in conference play as the Cougars fall to 1-6-3, 1-5-2.
Kent Lee scored three goals to tally a hat trick.
Lee got the party started with his first goal of the night at 14:30 in the first period with assists from
Johnny Malandruccolo and
Teodor Benno Vaage. He scored on the power play that resulted from Eric Kotkowski's tripping penalty at 13:50.
In the second period,
Brendan Krawczyk extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal scored at 3:09 off an assist from Baldinelli Jayden. Benno Vaage scored a power play goal of his own at 9:24 with help from
Kent Lee and Malandruccolo after Jonathan Lush was penalized for slashing at 8:24. Lee scored two back-to-back goals in the second period with the first at 15:20, unassisted, and the second at 18:24 with assists from Malandruccolo and Benno Vaage. His second goal of the period was on a power play after Nicholas Solema was called for slashing at 17:07.
Patrick Nowak began the third period in the penalty box after being called for hooking at 3:10 and
Cristo Walker scored a short handed goal at 5:00 to secure the 6-0 win for the Monarchs.
Lee concluded the night with three goals and two assists and first-year goaltender recorded 28 saves in net.
The Monarchs return to action in the new year as they are set to travel to Hershey, PA to face Lebanon Valley College at 7 p.m. on January 10 at Hersheypark Arena.
