WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 3, 2024) --The King's College swimming team celebrated their seniors ahead of Saturday's matchup against Wilkes and Cabrini. The men (2-7) fell to Cabrini (5-6) 63-94 but prevailed and defeated cross town rival Wilkes (8-7) 85-65 in Scandlon Natatorium. The women dropped to Wilkes (7-8) 75-30 and had a close loss to Cabrini (1-11) 49-40 this afternoon.

Men's Swimming:
In the second event of the day, King's took third in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:01.41 with
Christopher Maciejczyk (Fy.), Billy Hanson,
Chris Marriott (Fy.), and
Matthew Maciejczyk (Fy.).
Anthony Ursini (Sr.) took first in the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:28.60.
Matthew Maciejczyk timed in at 2:10.59 behind Cabrini's Matthew Seifred and Wilkes' Ashton Dainty to finish third in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 50-yard freestyle,
Blaze Graham (So.) timed in at 23.47 to place second behind Cabrini's Michael Gray.
Christopher Maciejczyk followed Graham at 27.00 and
Cody Zheng (Jr.) rounded the Monarchs with a time of 31.31.

In the 200-yard IM, Hanson had a third place finish at 2:26.06. Graham was four seconds shy behind Cabrini's Matthew Seifred and took second at 59.50 in the 100-yard butterfly, while Marriott finished at 1:10.38 for fourth place. Hanson ended in second place within the 100-yard freestyle and clocked in at 58.50. Zheng was in fourth place with 1:16.59 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Christopher Maciejczyk had a third-place performance in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:08.00.

In his final individual event of his career, Ursini finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and timed in at 5:23.23. Marriott placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:16.25. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, King's took third at 1:48.28 with Graham, Zheng,
Matthew Maciejczyk, and Ursini.
Women's Swimming:
Maddison Quick (Jr.) started the day strong by earning first in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:13.38. Quick had another first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:00.66 and
Roni McClelland (Jr.) followed with a time of 1:07.78 to take second. In the 50-yard freestyle, Quick had yet another top finish and clocked in at 27.81 and McClelland ended at a time of 30.44. In the last individual event, McClelland recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:21.15.

The Monarchs will have a short break to prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships. The championships are set for February 15
th-18
th beginning at 9:30 a.m. for all four days at York College.
