CHAMBERSBURG, PA (March 26, 2024) -- The King's College women's lacrosse team fell 13-5 against the Phoenix of Wilson (6-2) on Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs are now 1-8 overall as they head into conference play.

Ashley Dias (Jr.) won the opening draw control of the day in Kris's Meadow. Both teams went back-and-forth during the first four minutes of the game when Wilson's Jill Ahlgren found the back of the net at 10:54. The Phoenix added another tally at 8:20 to have a 2-0 lead. After a caused turnover by Dias,
Chloe Burke (Jr.) went on to find the back of the net at 5:06. Though the foes capitalized on a free position attempt and netted a goal at 3:30. As time was dwindling down, King's had the last tally of the quarter with
Kyleigh Dunworth (Jr.) scoring on a free position shot at 0:17. The Monarchs were down 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was scoreless for eight minutes straight when the hosts added another point to the scoreboard. Wilson was not done there and wasted no time with a tally at 5:08 to take a three-point lead. King's pushed their adversaries to the final seconds of the first half, but the Phoenix scored at 0:10. Heading into halftime Wilson had a 6-2 edge.

After intermission, Wilson maintained their momentum and scored three straight goals with 7:55 left on the clock. King's had a player-up when
Sarah Schultz (So.) connected her sister
Emilee Schultz (So.) for a Monarch goal at 6:27. That did not silence their opponent as the Phoenix added two more tallies to end the third quarter.

King's entered the fourth and final quarter with a won draw control by
Maria Schneider (So.). Having a player-up, Burke scored her second goal of the afternoon at 14:06. The defense played hard for five more minutes, but Wilson ultimately scored at 9:25. After a turnover by the Phoenix, Schneider found
Sarah Schultz to put the Monarchs back on the board at 5:49. Wilson went on to find the back of the net one last time to close the game at 2:48. King's fell 13-5 at the final buzzer.

The Monarchs ended with 18 shots, 17 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, and 12 draw control wins. Burke led the squad with two goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw control wins. Dias had four caused turnovers, five draw control wins, and three ground balls.
Sidney Bush collected 10 saves in net.

The Phoenix finished with 27 shots, 21 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers, and 10 draw control wins. Ahlgren earned four goals, three assists, and four caused turnovers. Sage Lague was right behind with her own three goals and three assists with four draw control wins. Eliza Gamby-Mickey picked up a team-high of six ground balls. Krystal Kienast had eight saves as starting goalkeeper.

King's will have a short turnaround as they will open Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Thursday, March 28
th at 5 p.m. to take on Delaware Valley at McCarthy Stadium. Following Easter break, the crew will host Lebanon Valley on Saturday, April 6
th at 1 p.m.
