GLENSIDE, PA (March 27, 2024) -- The King's College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Knights of Arcadia on Wednesday evening in Alumni Gymnasium. The Monarchs are now 18-6 overall and 1-6 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.

King's an early 3-1 lead to start the first set with kills by
Nick Greenawalt (Sr.) and
Greg Bousquet (So.). Arcadia (14-11, 3-3 MAC) came right back and tied the matchup. From then on, the set went point-for-point as the Monarchs tried to take over. King's were down 12-10 when they made a 5-1 run to tie it at 14-14. Though the hosts controlled the rest of the matchup and maintain a steady lead. The Monarchs lost the first set 25-20.

The second set was much like the first seeing four ties and four lead changes. The Knights maintained their momentum but after a four-point swing by King's to make the score in their favor at 6-4. Yet Arcadia responded with their own 6-0 run to reclaim a three-point cushion at 9-6. Both adversaries traded tallies, but every time the Monarchs scored one, the Knights put up two. It was 23-16 when King's made one last push by creating a 3-0 jolt that comprised of a kill by
Rich Alvarez (Jr.) and blocks made by
Gavin Gilhool (Jr.), Aidan Krouse (Jr.), and Greenawalt. Arcadia recorded the last two tallies for a 25-19 victory.

It was a must win set for the Monarchs. The Knights continued to frustrate King's with a 9-2 start of the third set. Anytime the Monarchs inched closer, the hosts made a small run. King's made a 3-2 push that included blocks made by Greenawalt,
Logan Dougherty (Fy.), and Alverez to get within four of their opponent. Arcadia answered back with a 10-3 jolt to remain victorious with the final score at 25-14.

The Monarchs ended with 31 kills, 26 assists, five blocks, 23 digs, and a hitting percentage of .247. Greenawalt earned nine kills and four blocks. Alvarez followed with his own seven kills. Krouse produced 25 assists and five digs. Gilhool had three blocks for the night.

The Knights finished with 47 kills, 45 assists, nine aces, four blocks, 34 digs, and a hitting percentage of .429. Danny Gonzalez fueled the offense with 13 kill and Evan Rothmann was right behind with 11 of his own. Riley Kodidek collected 40 assists. Cameron Birch had a team-high of 11 digs.

King's will conclude their regular season with a MAC home game on Wednesday, April 3
rd at 7 p.m. against Stevens.
