WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 7, 2024) -- The King's College women's lacrosse team fell 17-2 to the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent (1-1) on Thursday night. The Monarchs are now 1-3 overall.

King's started off strong in their return to McCarthy Stadium with a draw control win by
Kyleigh Dunworth (Jr.). The Monarch defense pestered Mount Saint Vincent for two-minutes but was ultimately scored on by Alicia Rodriguez at 12:59. The Dolphins found the back of the net once against at 11:12. That did not slow King's down as
Chloe Burke (Jr.) found
Maria Schneider (So.) for a Monarch goal at 9:35. King's continued their momentum by creating several turnovers and caused a shot clock violation. Dunworth netted a goal at 6:30 after taking advantage of a free position attempt to tie it up at 2-2. Mount Saint Vincent frustrated the Monarchs as they took no time and scored a goal at 5:07. King's were not going to let that slide seeing Schneider add her second tally during a free position attempt at 3:31 to tie it once again. The remaining minutes of the first quarter was scoreless.

The Dolphins started the second quarter a man-up and used that to their advantage and scored in the first 30-seconds. Mount Saint Vincent controlled the rest of the half from then on as they scored eight more goals. Going into halftime King's were down 12-3.

The third and fourth quarter were much like the second as the Dolphins scored five more goals. King's lost 17-3 at the final buzzer.

The Monarchs finished with nine shots, 28 ground balls, caused seven turnovers, had seven draw control wins, and went 12-15 in clears. Schneider led the squad with two goals and had two ground balls. Dunworth earned four ground balls and three draw control wins.
Sidney Bush (Sr.) started in net and had nine saves and two ground balls, while
Alyssa Reeber (Fy.) ended the day with five saves and four ground balls.

Mount Saint Vincent finished with 38 shots, 40 ground balls, caused 12 turnovers, won 15 draw controls, and went 16-16 in clears. Rodriguez had a team-high of five goals, two assists, eight ground balls, caused five turnovers, and had five draw control wins. Alyssa LaTorre followed with her own four goals and two ground balls. Both Macey Forge and Ella Meberg had three goals each. Â Dana DeDominicis added six ground balls to the stat sheet. In net, Katherine Hungerford earned one save and Makenna Reekie had three saves for the night.

The Monarchs will be back in McCarthy Stadium to take on cross town rival Wilkes at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13
th. The team will travel to Alvernia on Saturday, March 16
th with a start time of 11 a.m.
