Monarchs Bring Home First Road Win of the Season

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (September 17, 2024) --The King's College women's volleyball team picked up their first road win of the season against the Wildcats of Penn College (2-8) on Tuesday night. The Monarchs won 3-0 over the Wildcats to go 8-1 on the season.
 
King's took an early on 15-1 lead in Bardo Gymnasium that comprised of tallies made by Riley McArdle (Fy.), Lindsay Arezina (So.), Jessica Menze (Fy.), and Morgan Williams (Jr.). Penn College responded back by scoring five straight points. Though the Monarchs had an answer to every Wildcat tally. After a final kill by Theresa Lynch (Jr.), King's took the first set 25-9.
 
The second set was unlike the first, but the Monarchs started off strong with a 12-4 start that included kills made by Bella Salvia (Jr.), Emma Bolich (So.), and Mia Campanile (Jr.). Penn College began chipping away at their deficit when they made a 6-0 run to tie the set 14-14. From then on, the two opponents began going back-and-forth, looking to steal the win. King's stayed on top after producing a 3-0 jolt to win 25-23.
 
The third and final set was a battle as the crowd witnessed eight tied scored and two lead changes. The scoreboard was at a 13-13 deadlock when the Monarchs pulled away after several tallies made by Salvia, Bolich, and Lynch to gain a five-point cushion. Penn College was not going down without a fight and began to pester their visitors. King's remained composed and stole a 25-18 victory.
 
The Monarchs' Salvia led the team with five kills and six blocks. Arezina and Menze had four kills each to push the offensive end. Keely Hoban (Sr.) set a standard of 16 assists for the evening. On the defensive end, Williams produced 17 digs and McArdle followed with 11.
 
The Cougars' Nevaeh Ward (Fy.) had nine kills and Katheryn Burnett (Jr.) dished out 16 of the team's 21 assists. Jo Hess (Sr.) collected 13 digs and Hailey DeBrody (Sr.) was right behind with 10.
 
King's are back on the road to take on the Broncos of SUNY- Delhi on Thursday, September 19th at 6 p.m. The Squad will be back home for Senior Day on Saturday, September 21st at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. against Maritime and Muhlenberg.
