Women’s Soccer Falls to Immaculata 2-1

IMMACULATA, PA (September 3, 2024) -- The King's College women's soccer team took their first road trip of the season to Immaculata to face the Mighty Macs at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium. The Monarchs were fresh off a 12-0 win over Keystone College on Saturday where they set a new program record for the most goals scored in a single game, including a hat trick by Anya Chervak.

Senior captain Leah Sankey put the Monarchs on the board with an unassisted goal in the 20th minute of play. The remainder of the first half proved to be dominant for King's as they  tallied nine shots, four corner kicks and four fouls compared to Immaculata's two shots, one corner kick and five fouls. First-year goalkeeper Findley Hillebrant, securing her second start of the season in goal, turned in a clean sheet going into halftime as the Monarchs were up 1-0.

Both teams remained competitive in the second half of play. Following the issuing of a yellow card to senior captain and defender Cady McKean that resulted in a free kick for the Mighty Macs, Rachel McNamee scored an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute to make the game even.

Five minutes later, Kelsey Caldarelli scored off an assist from Rachel McNamee to seal the win for Immaculata. The Monarchs move to 1-1-1 on the season.

King's returns to the pitch on Saturday, September 7 as they are set to participate in the Drew Fall Festival being held at Drew University in Madison, N.J. They play Drew on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Stockton University at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, both being held at Ranger Stadium.
