COLMAR, PA (January 26, 2025) – The King's College men's ice hockey team secured a 5-0 shutout road Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) win over Arcadia on Sunday afternoon at the Hatfield Ice Arena. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 6-11-1, 3-9-1 in conference play while the Knights move to 8-8-2, 6-5-2. Sophomore goaltender
Diego D'Alessandro recorded his second-career shutout with the win.
First year forward
Thomas Soucy got the ball rolling with a power play goal with assists from
Kent Lee and
Alexander Ray midway through the first period after Arcadia's Jake Frankenfield was penalized for interference at 8:32. The Monarchs kept the 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Towards the end of the second period, at 18:29, CJ Bachman was sent to the box for tripping, resulting in a power play goal for Lee at 18:40 with help from
Teodor Benno Vaage and
Ethan Hersant. The 2-0 score stood after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, with
Kevin Martin being penalized for holding at 1:42, Hersant scored a short-handed goal with an assist from Benno Vaage.
Patrick Nowak extended the lead to 4-0 after scoring at 4:35 with assists from Lee and Martin.
Jakub Viedemann put the icing on the cake with an unassisted power play goal at 18:27 after Dennis Connor received a game misconduct and major penalty, along with Conor Gethings and
Ethan Hersant both being called for roughing, all occurring at 17:56.
Erik Borshchevsky posted four blocks as Hersant went 14-13 in faceoffs, Martin went 13-8 and Ray went 7-6. D'Alessandro tallied 33 saves in net with 15 coming in the third period.
The Monarchs are back in action next Friday, January 31 as they travel to Reisterstown, MD for a 4:30 matchup with the Mustangs of Stevenson University.
