REISTERSTOWN, MD (January 31, 2025) – The King's College men's ice hockey team overcame the Stevenson University Mustangs 5-2 at the Reisterstown Sportsplex on Friday night to improve to 7-11-1, 5-9-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 11-6-2, 8-5-2.
Ethan Hersant scored two goals in the win.
Zane Burleigh got things going for the Monarchs with a goal at 13:53 in the first period with assists from
Brendan Krawczyk and
Shota Kaneko.
Hersant scored his first of two unassisted goals at 5:46 in the second period, following a boarding penalty called on Liam McCanney at 4:36 to result in a power play. A team penalty was issued to Stevenson for having too many players on the ice at 8:42, granting a power play opportunity to the Monarchs. Krawczyk notched a goal of his own at 9:48 with assists from
Alexander Ray and
Teodor Benno Vaage.
Patrick Nowak extended the Monarchs lead to 4-0 with a goal to begin the third period at 2:15 off an assist from
Erik Borshchevsky. The Mustangs scored back-to-back goals later in the period, the first at 14:43 from Graeme McCrory with assists from Matt Yeager and Liam McCanney and the second at 15:01 from Blake Benson off an assist from Caden Smith. Hersant scored an empty net goal at 18:17 to seal the 5-2 win for the Monarchs. Kaneko tallied three blocks for the Monarchs and
Diego D'Alessandro posted 37 saves in net on the night.
The Monarchs are back home at the Revolution Ice Centre tomorrow, February 1 for a 7 p.m. faceoff with the Cougars of Misericordia University. The team will also hold their first annual Teddy Bear Toss.
