WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 1, 2025)—The King's College field hockey team dropped a home non-conference matchup to Lycoming on Wednesday night by a score of 3-0. With the result, the Monarchs fall to 1-9 on the season while the Warriors now sit at 6-2 in 2025.
King's came out aggressively to open the game, taking two shots following a penalty corner coming from
Hannah Chocallo and
Melanie Tlatenchie. The first from Chocallo was blocked while the second from Tlatenchie was saved by the Lycoming keeper.
The Warriors also provided some pressure of their own, forcing three saves in the first quarter from
Alyssa Reeber in her field hockey debut. Lycoming opened the scoring just before halftime at the 28:53 mark on a shot from the top of the crease that escaped Reeber and found the back of the cage.
King's tallied four shots in the first half on two penalty corners while Lycoming produced 10 shots and six corners.
10 minutes into the third, the Warriors doubled their score on a deflected save that put the ball in front of the cage for Lycoming to put away and extend to 2-0. Lycoming tacked on a third goal just three minutes later in the 43
rd minute. A trio of shots were taken by the Warriors, the first blocked, the second saved and scoring the third to go ahead 3-0.
The Monarchs looked for scoring opportunities in the fourth but were unable to generate any shots off of their corner in the final period as Lycoming held on to win 3-0.
Tlatenchie led the Monarchs on the night with two shots on goal while
Shaylee Heffron recorded the other shot on goal for King's.
Davina Krappa and H. Chocallo also generated shots on the night. Reeber had a strong outing for her first collegiate field hockey game, collecting eight saves for the Monarchs.
King's field hockey is set to play again next Wednesday, October 8, as the Monarchs head to Reading, PA to take on Albright College at 4:00 PM.
