READING, PA(October 8, 2025)—The King's College field hockey team suffered a 5-0 setback against Albright College on Wednesday. With the result, the Monarchs fall to 1-10 on the season while the Lions are now 3-7 overall.
Albright opened the scoring early in the first quarter at 1:31 as the Lions' Rebecca Geiger sent a shot into the back of the cage to take a 1-0 lead. Geiger struck again for Albright at 12:25 to provide the Lions a 2-0 advantage over the Monarchs.

Elizabeth Samuel had a busy first half, collecting nine saves in the opening 30 minutes of play. Samuel and the Monarch defense held Albright scoreless in the second quarter, sending the game to half, down 2-0.
The Lions started off the second half finding the back of the cage twice in the opening 2:25 of the third, doubling their lead to 4-0.
Sophia Pettinelli took the lone shot on goal of the game for the Monarchs at 33:50 with a chance to score from the left side of the goal. Her shot was kicked away by the Albright keeper, keeping the Monarchs at bay.
The Lions tacked on their fifth goal of the contest three minutes into the fourth and played out the final 12 to secure the 5-0 victory over the Monarchs.
Pettinelli led the Monarchs offensively on Wednesday, taking two shots with one on goal. Samuel finished the game with 10 saves, just one shy of her career best 11 saves against Scranton.
King's field hockey is set to begin MAC Freedom play on Friday, October 10, as the Monarchs host FDU-Florham at 7:00 PM.
