Nuttall Scores for Men’s Soccer in 1-1 Conference Clash with FDU-Florham

MADISON, NJ (October 11, 2025) – The King's College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon. The result moves the Monarchs to 2-6-5 overall and 0-0-2 in MAC Freedom play, while the Devils now sit at 8-1-3 on the year and 1-0-1 in the conference.

The Monarchs struck first in the 14th minute following consistent pressure in the offensive zone. A shot from Philip Permyashkin was initially saved by the FDU keeper, and the rebound fell to Anthony Ramirez, whose follow-up attempt was blocked by a defender. The loose ball deflected high into the air, where Jackson Nuttall rose above the pack to head it into the left side of the net, giving King's an early 1-0 lead.

FDU generated several chances throughout the remainder of the half, but sophomore goalkeeper Ben Van Valkenburg turned aside three shots to preserve the advantage heading into halftime.

The Devils found the equalizer in the 69th minute on a shot coming off a corner kick to level the game at one goal apiece.

Both sides pushed for a late winner, with Cameron Jones testing the FDU keeper in the 80th minute and the Devils threatening off multiple corners down the stretch, but neither team could find a decisive goal as time expired.

The matchup proved to be a physical one, as the teams combined for seven yellow cards—five assessed to King's and two to FDU—amid a tightly contested conference battle.

FDU-Florham outshot King's 16-8, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, and held a 10-4 margin in corner kicks.

Van Valkenburg recorded six saves in goal for the Monarchs throughout his 90 minutes of action. Nuttall tallied his second goal of the season, with Jones and Permyashkin registering shots on target.

King's men's soccer returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 14, when they host Gettysburg College at 7:00 PM at McCarthy Stadium.
