SCRANTON, PA (October 12, 2025) -- The King's College men's swim team got its 2025-26 season underway with a split at the Marywood Tri-Meet, Saturday morning at the Scranton YMCA. The Monarchs defeated Marywood University, 133-105, while falling to Wilkes University, 171-88.
King's opened the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the squad composed of
Christopher Maciejczyk,
Billy Hanson,
Matthew Maciejczyk and
David Guillen-Duran posted a time of 2:03.85.
In the first individual event of the morning,
Chris Dutko placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:31.04.
Chase Kubis followed up the performance with a third-place finish of his own, touching the wall at 1:59.23 in the 200-yard freestyle. Meanwhile, Hanson posted a time of 2:16.39 to claim sixth.
Connor Scheckner delivered the Monarchs' first event win of the day in the 50-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 25.32. C. Maciejczyk followed in fifth, clocking in at an even 29.00.
In the 50-yard breaststroke,
Julian Zoquier and Guillen-Duran took the four and five spots, respectively, with times of 34.39 and 36.79. M. Maciejczyk placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:16.14.
Kubis turned in a solid showing in the 50-yard freestyle, beating the second-place finisher by just over six-tenths of a second to win the race at 23.27.
Stefan Lakoseljac came in sixth at 26.22 and Zoquier rounded out the Monarch lineup in the 50 free in 27.55.
The trio of Dutko, Lakoseljac and Zoquier all finished within five seconds of each other in the 10–yard freestyle to claim the six, seven and eight spots. Dutko touched the wall in 57.10, Lakoseljac finished in 1.00.77 and Zoquier completed the King's contingent in 1:01.19.
Scheckner picked up his second victory of the day in as many events, winning the 100-yard backstroke at 54.50. C. Maciejczyk took fifth place with a time of 1:08.49.
Kubis cracked the top three finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching in 1:14.25. Hanson and Guillen-Duran rounded out the Monarch contingent with times of 1:19.51 and 1:22.32, respectively. In the 500-yard freestyle, Dutko added points for King's with a third-place finish at 5:59.54. He was followed by C. Maciejczyk, who touched in 6:31.21.
Lakoseljac competed in the tightly contested 50-yard butterfly, posting a time of 30.39. Guillen-Duran finished under two-tenths of a second behind him at 30.55, followed closely by M. Maciejczyk at 30.59.
Scheckner continued his strong performance in the final individual event of the day, winning the 200-yard medley in 2:08.27 – a comfortable ten seconds faster than the next-closest competitor. Hanson placed sixth with a time of 2:24.65 in his final appearance of the day.
King's finished the day strong, as the quartet of Kubis, Zoquier, Dutko and Scheckner won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:35.81.
King's returns to the pool at Lebanon Valley on Saturday for a road meet with the Flying Dutchmen. Racing gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
