DALLAS, PA (October 15, 2025)—The King's College field hockey team suffered a 5-0 setback on Wednesday to Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action. The loss brings the Monarchs to 1-12 overall and 0-2 in conference play while the Cougars are now 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Misericordia opened the scoring at 13:43 in the first quarter, sending a shot in off a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead just before the start of the second.
The Cougars tacked on two more goals in the second quarter as the Monarchs applied pressure with two shots on goal from
Rowan Murray and one penalty corner. Despite the pressure, King's was unable to find the back of the net as Misericordia took a 3-0 lead into the half.
In the third, Misericordia extended their lead to four at 44:41 as
Davina Krappa had her shot blocked for King's coming off another corner from
Melanie Tlatenchie.
The fourth quarter saw the Cougars close out the scoring with their fifth goal of the game at 50:51.
Shaylee Heffron provided some late pressure for the Monarchs with a shot at 52:21.
Murray led the Monarchs offensively with two shots on goal while Krappa and Heffron each took a shot. Goalkeeper
Elizabeth Samuel recorded six saves in her 60 minutes of play.
Allie Chocallo delivered a stellar defensive effort, posting a career-high two defensive saves in the game. Her first came in the first quarter, when she batted down a rising shot that was on its way to the top shelf. She followed it up with a diving stop early in the second, turning away a shot that was rolling toward the bottom left corner of the cage.
King's field hockey is set for another MAC Freedom matchup on Saturday, October 18
th as the Monarchs head to Hoboken, NJ to face off against Stevens at 11:00 AM.
