WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (November 12, 2025) – The King's College women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season at home on Wednesday night, showing flashes of promise in a competitive first half before falling to Widener University, 68–52, inside McGrane Gymnasium.
After trading baskets early, the Monarchs trailed just 27–25 at the break thanks to strong guard play from Cadie Lewis and Gianna Dickson. Widener used a decisive third quarter to pull away, outscoring King's 22–9 behind a hot stretch from beyond the arc. Despite a late push from the Monarchs, the Pride held on through the final minutes to secure the win.
Cadie Lewis led King's with 21 points and 7 rebounds, while shooting 6-for-14 from the field. Gianna Dickson added a 19 points of her own with 3 boards and a steal, while Lauren Casey added 4 points and 12 rebounds. Claire Aufiero chipped in two points, five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.
As a team, King's shot 26.2 percent (16-of-61) from the field, 32.4 percent (11-34) from three, and 60.0 percent (9-of-15) from the line. The Monarchs tallied 12 assists,10 steals and grabbed 36 rebounds.
The Monarchs (0–1) will return to action on Saturday, November 15, traveling to take on Gwynedd Mercy University. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
