Women's Basketball Loses Close One at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (November 15, 2025) — The King's College women's basketball team put up a strong defensive effort on Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a 56–50 loss to Gwynedd Mercy on the road. The Monarchs mounted a late push but couldn't overcome a slow start in the non-conference matchup.

King's came out sharp defensively, holding the Griffins to just seven points in the second quarter, and trailed by only two at halftime thanks to contributions from Lauren Casey and Cadie Lewis. Gwynedd Mercy, however, responded with a strong second half, outscoring King's 28–24 behind improved shooting and aggressiveness on the boards.

The Monarchs fought back in the fourth, as Gianna Dickson and Irelynd Long each hit clutch threes to take the lead on two separate occasions, but the Griffins responded with an 8-0 run to help close out the win.

Casey led the Monarchs with 18 points, adding 12 rebounds and five blocks on the day. Dickson chipped in 15 points on 4-11 shooting from behind the arc, while Long tallied six points and three rebounds. King's recorded 5 steals and forced 14 turnovers but struggled from the field, shooting 29.4 percent (15-of-51). As a team, King's was 13-for-21 from the free-throw line and grabbed 37 boards, including 19 on offense.

The Monarchs (0–2) return to action on Wednesday, November 19, when they travel to face St. Elizabeth University at 6:00 p.m. in Morristown, N.J.
