ASTON, PA (November 21, 2025) -- The King's College men's ice hockey team yielded a 4-0 result to Neumann University in a road Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest, Friday evening at the IceWorks Skating Complex. The Monarchs move to 0-5-0 overall with an identical mark in MAC match-ups, while the Knights extended their win streak to five, improving to 5-2-0 on the season and maintaining a perfect 5-0-0 record in conference play.
Neumann struck just 17 seconds into the contest to grab an early lead and carried momentum throughout the opening frame. King's managed two shots in the period while goaltender
Kenny Vought turned aside 14 attempts, including multiple saves during a Neumann power play following a too-many-men penalty. The Monarchs killed the infraction and later generated their first scoring chance on a shot from
Zane Burleigh, but the hosts held a 1-0 advantage after 20 minutes.
The second period saw King's spend extended time in its defensive zone as Neumann added two more goals at 3:27 and 16:15 to build a 3-0 cushion. The Monarchs earned back-to-back power plays midway through the frame and fired several attempts, including looks from
Braydon Buckingham and
Jayden Baldinelli, but could not capitalize.
Vought continued to anchor the defense with 12 saves in the period, while blocks from
Shota Kaneko,
Kevin Martin,
Teodor Benno Vaage,
Emil Pyyhtia,
Erik Hegyi and Buckingham prevented the Knights from expanding their lead any further.
In the third, King's pushed for offense with eight different skaters recording shots, their highest period total. The Monarchs killed two more penalties in the final frame, however Neumann tacked on a goal 4:34 into the period to seal the outcome.
Suiting up in his first collegiate game,
Justin Spurrell shared the team lead in shots with Burleigh and Kaneko as the trio each registered two shots.
The Monarchs recorded 11 blocked shots, led by Pyyhtia and Buckingham with two each, while successfully killing off all four Neumann power plays. The team won 29 faceoffs, paced by
Cristo Walker with 13 wins.
Vought finished with 37 saves on 41 shots, including a series of stops during late pressure.
King's returns to the IceWorks Skating Complex tomorrow evening, facing off against the Knights in a MAC rematch at 7:00 p.m.
