Women's Basketball Handles Wilkes at Home

WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 25, 2025) — The King's College women's basketball team put together a strong all-around performance on Tuesday night, earning a 70–59 victory over crosstown rival Wilkes inside McGrane Gymnasium. With the win, the Monarchs improved to 3–2 on the season.

King's established rhythm early, taking a 14–12 lead after the first quarter and matching Wilkes 16–16 in a competitive second period to head into halftime up 30–28. The Monarchs broke the game open in the third, using a 10–0 run and efficient shooting to outscore the Colonels 21–12 and extend the advantage to 51–40. King's maintained control throughout the fourth quarter, converting at the free-throw line and closing out the night with strong defense and rebounding.

Four Monarchs scored in double figures, led by Lauren Casey who powered the interior once again, posting 17 points and 14 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Claire Aufiero delivered a standout all-around performance with 13 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.

Cadie Lewis added 13 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds as she helped fuel King's transition opportunities. Gianna Dickson continued her early-season scoring consistency with 11 points and five boards, while Irelynd Long chipped in nine points and two assists. Layla Orth provided valuable minutes off the bench, contributing five points, two rebounds, and a steal.

King's finished the game shooting 35.9 percent (23–64) from the field and 20–30 from the free-throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 48–45. The Monarchs forced 20 turnovers and recorded 11 steals, turning defensive pressure into key points during their decisive third-quarter surge.

Wilkes was led by Maliyah Warren, who scored a game-high 22 points. As a team, the Colonels shot 24–69 (34.8%) and went just 1–26 from three-point range.

The Monarchs (3–2) return to action next Sunday, November 30, traveling to face Keystone at 2 p.m. in La Plume, PA.
