WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 16, 2025) -- On the heels of the sixth-annual Monarch Mayhem, the King's College Athletic Department is proud to celebrate our varsity athletic programs' successful efforts to set yet another new record in the crowdfunding challenge. Monarch Mayhem 6 generated a record-breaking $79,266.85 in the 32-hour period from Wednesday, November 5 at 12:00 p.m. to Thursday, November 6 at 8:00 p.m.
Â
"We can't thank our donors enough for their extreme generosity," said Dani Rimsky, a sophomore on the King's women's track and field team. "With the incredible success of Monarch Mayhem, we are able to cover travel and meal expenses, upgrade equipment, and provide the team with new warm-ups."
Â
Monarch Mayhem 6 kicked off on Wednesday, as the department held a spirit event at O'Connor Park in the middle campus to raise awareness for the initiative while giving out cookies and hot chocolate. Leo the Lion was also in attendance, adding to the excitement and bringing Monarch spirit to the event. Many King's students braved strong winds to support the cause by writing heartfelt thank you notes to all our supportive donors. Several members of the community also recorded videos thanking donors for their generosity that were posted on social media shortly after the conclusion of the 32-hour period.
Â
The mayhem continued inside the Scandlon Auxiliary and Recreation Gymnasium, where the Institutional Advancement team and Athletics Department hosted their second annual Pie-A-Coach event. The campus community was given a chance to pie coaches of their choosing; generating awareness and excitement as Monarch Mayhem entered its first night.
Â
During the 32-hour window, teams interacted with friends, families, alumni and the King's community through a series of videos and social media initiatives aimed at raising awareness for Monarch Mayhem 6. For the second year, our student-athletes competed against each other in tiers to see which team could bring in the most total dollars for their program. In addition to the Red, Gold and Leo tiers that were established last year, a new Crown tier was implemented to keep the crowdfunding event competitive and fun for all student-athletes.
Â
In the spirit of competition, the teams that saw the most dollars raised in each of the four categories earned an additional $1,000 on top of their totals, while second place teams in each category received a $500 prize for their efforts. The 2025 campaign marked the fourth year in which a $1,000 bonus prize was awarded to the team that brought in the most overall funds.
Â
The Red Tier was won by men's golf with $1,405, while women's golf claimed second with $1,291 raised. In the Gold Tier, cross country and track and field claimed the top spot with $4,736, followed by women's volleyball in second with $4,565 raised.
Â
Men's volleyball topped the Leo Tier, raising $5,666 to narrowly beat out baseball, who came in second with $5,410. First place of the inaugural Crown Tier was awarded to wrestling with $10,200, and men's lacrosse placed second with $5,790 raised.
Â
Wrestling claimed the overall title for the fourth year in a row, as the program raised $10,200 over the 32-hour window.
Â
"Monarch Mayhem is such a great opportunity provided by Kings for sports teams to raise money for their teams," said King's wrestling senior, Alex Ballantyne. "The money donated is greatly appreciated by all the athletes and coaches to continue to provide all the necessities needed for us to compete as a team and even do certain things we might not be able to do without this fundraising opportunity."
Â
Our coaches, staff and most importantly the student-athletes will benefit from the generosity of others during Monarch Mayhem. Proceeds from this year's event will help teams with specific needs such as travel and meals, updated gear and equipment, recruiting, and much more that helps create a top-notch athletic experience here at King's.
