Women's Basketball Closes Puerto Rico Trip with Tough Loss to Kenyon

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (December 30, 2025) — The King's College women's basketball team wrapped up play at the Puerto Rico College Sports Clásico on Tuesday morning, falling 66–55 to Kenyon College. Despite a strong second-quarter response, the Monarchs were unable to overcome a balanced Kenyon attack in the final game of the two-game international trip.

Kenyon set the tone early, taking an 18–13 lead after the first quarter. King's answered in the second, playing its best stretch of the game by outscoring the Owls 17–9 behind improved shooting and defensive pressure to briefly regain momentum, taking a 30-27 lead into the half.

The Owls pulled away in the second half, outscoring King's 17–13 in the third quarter and extending the margin in the fourth behind timely perimeter shooting and second-chance opportunities. The Monarchs continued to battle down the stretch but were unable to close the gap as Kenyon sealed the win at the free-throw line.

Lauren Casey led King's with a double-double performance, finishing with 15 points and 15 rebounds while anchoring the Monarchs inside. Gianna Dickson added 14 points on efficient shooting, and Cadie Lewis contributed 11 points and five rebounds. Claire Aufiero chipped in six points, four rebounds, and three assists while Irelynd Long and Taylor Hough combined for seven points and five boards.

As a team, King's shot 35.6 percent from the field and went 20-of-27 from the free-throw line, keeping the game within reach despite being outscored in three of four quarters. The Monarchs finished with 34 rebounds and forced 12 turnovers, but Kenyon's depth proved decisive, as the Owls held a 34–5 advantage in bench points.

The Monarchs conclude their Puerto Rico trip and return home with valuable experience as they shift their focus towards Lycoming at McGrane on Saturday, January 3 at 1 pm.
