Women's Hoops Dominates Delaware Valley, 93-49

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 12, 2025) -- The King's College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Delaware Valley University Aggies, 93-49, in dominant fashion on Wednesday night in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 8-14 overall and 4-7 in the standings, while the Aggies fall to 3-19 and 1-10 in the conference.
 
A sloppy start saw King's (8-14, 4-7 MAC Freedom) trialing, 7-2, with 5:09 remaining in the first, but the Monarchs locked in the final minutes of the quarter as they went on a 17-6 run to take a 19-13 lead at the end of the frame. The hosts outscored Delaware Valley (3-19, 1-10 MAC Freedom) 30-6 in the second, shooting 61% from the floor and 55.5% from three while limiting the Aggies to 15.3% and an 0-for-4 effort from beyond the arc, to hold an impressive 49-19 lead heading into the locker room.
 
The Monarchs continued to roll in the second half, leading by as many as 52, 92-40, with 4:29 left on a layup from Layla Orth, on their way to the dominant 93-49 win in McGrane Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
 
Cadie Lewis dropped a career-high 20 points, going 6-for-9 from the floor and 4-or-6 form three, with six assists, five rebounds, and a steal, while Lauren Casey added 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting with five boards, two steals, a block, and an assist. Orth came off the bench with her own career-high of 12 points with five boards, five dimes, and three steals, and Juleesah Hines finished with 10 points, four assists, and four boards. Gabby Marsola also added eight points, and Claire Aufiero put up seven points, four caroms, three assists, a block, and a steal. Alli Lindsay rounded out the top performers with nine points, six boards, five steals, and three assists, and Irelynd Long scored six points.
 
Alexis Wright led all scorers with 27 points, adding five rebounds, a block, and a steal, while Haley Keenan totaled 10 points with six rebounds and a steal.
 
King's finished the game shooting 53.1% (34-64) in the game and 44.0% from three, dishing out 27 assists on their 34 baskets. The defense collected 14 steals on 20 Aggie turnovers, resulting in a 27-14 edge in points off turnovers, while also holding Delaware Valley to 34.4% from the floor and 8.3% (1-12) from three. The Monarchs out rebounded the Aggies, 41-36, had a 38-0 advantage in bench points, and put up a 44-30 edge in points in the paint.
 
The Monarchs will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they host Stevens Institute of Technology for a 1:00 p.m. tip off in MAC Freedom play.
