WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 15, 2025) -- Trailing by just seven entering the final 10 minutes of action, the King's College women's basketball team could not finish their comeback as the Monarchs fell, 84-75, to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play. The Monarchs fall to 8-15 overall and 4-8 in the standings, while the Ducks improve to 15-8 with a 9-3 conference mark.

Both teams showed off their shooting skills in the first as Stevens (15-8, 9-3 MAC Freedom) shot 68.4% from the floor compared to 53.3% by King's (8-15, 4-8 MAC Freedom). The Ducks took the early lead and saw their advantage jump to as many as 11, 24-13, with 1:56 left in the first, but a pair of triples from
Alli Lindsay and three points from
Lauren Casey allowed the Monarchs to close within seven, 29-22, at the end of the frame.

Stevens continued to maintain their edge throughout the second, but trailing by 11 with 1:04 to go in the half,
Claire Aufiero converted two timely buckets to make it a 48-39 game heading into the locker room.

Gianna Dickson sparked the King's offense in the third, scoring the first nine points of the quarter for the Monarchs as part of a 11-2 run to tie the game at 50 a piece with 7:31 left. The Ducks rattled off four points in response, but
Kathy Shepherd drilled a three and Lindsay found Dickson on a nice read on an inbound play to put King's back on top, 55-54, with 5:02 remaining in the third. Stevens had an answer, out scoring the Monarchs 10-3 in the final minutes as King's trailed, 64-57, with 10 minutes left in the contest.

The teams went back-and-forth to start the final quarter, but trailing by 12 with 5:04 to play, Lindsay and Dickson connected from beyond the arc to make it a six-point game, 76-70, with 3:19 to go. Stevens managed to hold off the late comeback in the final minutes as the Monarchs fell, 84-75, on senior day on Saturday afternoon in McGrane Gymnasium.

Lindsay delivered a new career-high 20 points while flirting with a triple-double with nine assists and eight rebounds, while Dickson also poured in a career-high 20 points. Casey added 13 points with two assists and a block, and Shepherd put up nine with nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Cadie Lewis added four assists, two rebounds, and a steal, and
Juleesah Hines totaled two steals and two helpers.

Lucy Alberici led the Ducks with 16 points and six assists, while Leyla Castro added 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

King's had a solid shooting night, connecting on 46.6% from the floor and 35.5% from three, dishing out 22 assists on 27 baskets. The rebounding margin was knotted at 32 a piece, while the Monarchs had the edge in fast break points, 13-4.

The Monarchs will wrap up their regular-season slate next week on the road, first traveling to Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday night for a 6:00 p.m. tip off in MAC Freedom play.
