Hersant and Lee Post New Program Records in 5-3 Setback to Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 14, 2025) – The King's College men's ice hockey team fell to the Colonels of Wilkes University 5-3 on Friday night at the Toyota Sportsplex at Coal Street Park. With the loss in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), they move to 8-13-1, 6-11-1 in conference play as Wilkes improves to 15-7-2, 15-3-2. Ethan Hersant scored two goals to set a new program record for most goals scored in a single season with 16 as Kent Lee extends his season assist count to 19 for an additional program record.

Hersant scored his first goal of the night at 5:21 in the first period with assists from Thomas Soucy and Lee. The Colonels answered back at 13:21 with a goal from Matt Carlson off assists from Miles Harrington and Joe Johnson. At the tail end of the period, at 19:58, Brendan Krawczyk found the back of the net with help from Shota Kaneko and Alexander Ray to put the Monarchs ahead 2-1 going into the first intermission.

Krawczyk spent the beginning of the second period in the penalty box after being called for high sticking at 2:40, ultimately resulting in a short handed goal from Hersant at 3:01 with another assist from Lee. The Colonels retaliated with a power play goal from Max Cocchi with an assist from Cole Jungwirth at 4:34 to make cut King's lead to one as they led 3-2.

The Colonels scored three unanswered goals in the third period to win it 5-3. Mikey Harrel Jr., Ray and Luke Babilon each recorded two blocks as Diego D'Alessandro tallied 30 saves in net.

The Monarchs return home to the Revolution Ice Centre tomorrow, February 15 for a 7 p.m. Senior Night matchup with the Knights of Arcadia University.
