Hersant Records Hat Trick in Loss to Alvernia

PITTSTON, PA (February 7, 2025) – The King's College men's ice hockey team fell 7-3 to the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University on Friday night at the Revolution Ice Centre. With the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) loss, the Monarchs move to 8-12-1, 6-10-1 in conference play while the Golden Wolves improve to 9-10-2, 7-8-2. Ethan Hersant scored all three Monarch goals to record a hat trick.

The teams got off to a quick and competitive start as Easton Inglis scored 1:28 into the first period with help from Brock Mueller and Lucas Ochitwa. Justin Pare extended the lead to 2-0 at 2:44 with an unassisted goal, and goaltender Diego D'Alessandro was replaced with Ben Williams. Hersant answered with his first of the night at 3:41 off assists from Mauro D'Alessandro and Kent Lee. Pare notched another goal at 17:26 off assists from Jack Natyshak and Sawyer Senio to go into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead.

The Golden Wolves scored two power play goals in the second period, the first from Will White at 14:15 after Patrick Nowak was penalized for cross checking, and the second at 16:30 from Edvin Robertsson after Erik Hegyi was sent to the box for high sticking. The Golden Wolves led 5-1 heading into the third period.

Midway through the final 20 minutes of regulation, White was sent to the box for cross checking, resulting in Hersant's second goal at 11:09 off an assist from Johnny Malandruccolo. His third came at 12:29 with assists from Thomas Soucy and Lee to cut Alvernia's lead to two. Ochitwa and Vincent Servizzi both scored empty net goals through the final three minutes of regulation to solidify a 7-3 win for the Golden Wolves.

The Monarchs are back in action next Friday, February 14 as they travel to cross-town rival Wilkes for a 5 p.m. puck drop.
