Burke's Hat Trick Leads Women's Lacrosse at Hood

FREDERICK, MD (March 1, 2025) -- Chloe Burke recorded her first hat trick of the season on Saturday afternoon as the King's College women's lacrosse team fell, 12-3, at Hood College on Saturday afternoon. With the setback, the Monarchs drop to 0-2 overall, while the Blazers improve to 2-3.

Hood (2-3) stormed out to a commanding 7-0 lead with their seventh tally coming with 11:25 remaining in the second. Off a Blazer's turnover, King's (0-2) successfully cleared the ball and set up Chloe Burke for her first unassisted goal of the game with 8:02 remaining in the half. Alyssa Reeber came up two big saves to give the ball back to the Monarchs and into Burke's stick as she netted her second unassisted goal with 4:46 to go before the break as King's closed within 7-2. The Blazers notched another pair of goals down the stretch as the Monarchs trailed, 9-2, entering the locker room.

After a Hood goal 4:36 into the third, a failed Blazers clear that saw Sydney Stratton secure possession for the Monarchs as Burke scored just eight seconds later to inch within 10-3 with 8:16 left in the third. Despite some strong efforts, the host Hood tacked on two insurance goals in the fourth as the Monarchs fell, 12-3, on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Burke netted her three goals for three points off six shots, including five on goal, with two ground balls, while Harley Sabol picked up four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Reeber finished with four ground balls and a career-high 22 saves, and Maria Schneider tabbed four draw controls.

Both Menna Salem and Abbey Bolingbroke picked up six ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Julia Gregory won eight draw controls. Alivia Hosterman made one save in goal, while Hayley Turnbull made two.
