Burke and Lindsay Push the Monarchs Against Marywood

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 5, 2025) -- The King's College women's lacrosse team fell to Marywood 11-21 on Wednesday afternoon in McCarthy Stadium.
 
Chloe Burke opened the game with a draw control win for the Monarchs (0-3). The Pacers (2-3) looked to take advantage of the first free position shot of the day at 13:12, but Alyssa Reeber swooped in for the save. The two teams traded sides for the next two minutes, both looking to gain an edge. Marywood collected their first goal of the game on a free position attempt. Though King's answered right back with Alli Lindsay finding Emilee Schultz to tie the matchup. The Pacers went on to find the back of the net two more times with 10:25 left of the first quarter. The game was scoreless for the next two minutes when Maria Schneider caused a turnover that helped the Monarchs enter enemy territory. Lindsay added another tally at 8:32. From then on Marywood responded back with a 4-1 run as time was expiring. Chloe Burke netted the one more King's goal at 0:30 before the Pacers' added the last point of quarter. The Monarchs were down 8-4 heading into the second.
 
Marywood maintained their momentum in the second quarter with five straight goals in the first seven minutes. There was 2:01 left on the clock when Emilee Schultz found Sarah Schultz to tack on a tally to the board. King's took advantage of a free position attempt and Lindsay collected her second goal of the game at 1:01. At the end of the first half, the Monarchs were down 6-13.
 
King's came back strong to start the third quarter with Burke finding the back of the net at 13:25. Though the Pacers answered with their own goal at 12:09. The quarter was quiet the next few possessions as each side looked to create some momentum. At 9:30, Lindsay recorded her first hat trick of the season to make it 8-14. Marywood scored two unanswered points with 4:39 remaining. The third quarter was scoreless the rest of the way with the Pacers ahead, 8-16.
 
In the first two minutes of the fourth and final quarter, both opponents traded points with Sarah Schultz gaining another goal off of a free position attempt. Marywood would also gain a free position goal at 12:33, but just two minutes later, Burke added her own hat trick of the day. The Pacers produced one last 2-1 push to end the night. The score was 21-11 at the final buzzer.
 
Lindsay led the squad with six points on three goals and three assists with five ground balls and six draw control wins. Burke was right behind with four goals, three ground balls, and three draw control wins. Emilee Schultz and Sarah Schultz tacked on two goals each. Schneider paced the team six caused turnovers. Reeber had 11 saves in goal.
 
Katelyn Smith fueled Marywood with six goals, four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and five draw control wins. Avery Meighan collected six assists, three goals, five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and 12 draw control wins.
 
The Monarchs are back in action on Monday, March 10th at Gwynedd Mercy at 4 p.m.
