ABERDEEN, MD (March 11, 2025) -- The King's College baseball team fell 13-5 to the Knights of Central Pennsylvania College in game one of The Ripken Experience Baseball Tournament in Aberdeen, MD on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Monarchs move to 1-7 as the Knights improve to 4-2.
The Monarchs got on the board in the first inning as
Owen Ness stole second base and
Troy Neff stole home to give King's the 1-0 lead. The Knights answered back with five runs in the third inning and three in the fourth to make it 8-1.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Zach Jenkins hit a triple to right field to score
Justin Richards.
Jacob Sutton then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Jenkins home and cut the Knights lead to 8-3. Central Penn scored one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to extend the lead to 10-3 before
Zach Day hit a home run to right field to record two RBIs and make it 10-5.
The Knights hit three more runs in the top of the eighth to seal the 13-5 win in the first game of The Ripken Experience Baseball Tournament.
Jaiden Wanamaker led the Monarchs with three hits on the day as Cameron Smiley (1-1) notched the pitching win and
Justin Hoadley (0-1) took the loss.
The Monarchs return tomorrow, March 12 for a 12 p.m. match up with the Blazers of Hood College in game two of the tournament.
