Monarchs Secure Walk-Off Win Over Lancaster Bible College

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 18, 2025) – The King's College baseball team beat the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College 9-8 on Tuesday afternoon at Lipo Field. Zach Jenkins hit a walk-off double and pinch hitter Ian Campbell snagged home to move the Monarchs to 4-9 overall as the Chargers fall to 8-9 on the season.

The Chargers got going with a run in the top of the first until the Monarchs found their offensive spark in the fourth inning as Jacob Sutton hit a double to put Kevin Kullman on third and score Jaiden Wanamaker and Zach Day. Jake Kudrick grounded out to second to push Sutton to third and Kullman home. Owen Kosar went on to hit a single to center field to get Sutton home and give the Monarchs a 4-1 lead.

The Chargers put up five runs in he fifth, including a three-run home run, and one in the sixth to retake the lead 7-4. Day reached first base on an error from the first basemen, eventually advancing to second and putting Troy Neff on third as Kosar and Kudrick reached home to cap off the sixth.

The Chargers put up one more run in the seventh before Justin Richards hit a single to left field to score Sutton and Kullman and tie the game 8-8. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Jenkins walked it off with a double, and Campbell scored to give King's the 9-8 win.

Dusty Shaver (1-1) got the pitching win, handing Evan Sareyka (0-2) the loss. Justin Hoadley started on the mound for the Monarchs, notching three strikeouts through four innings, 21 batters and 84 pitches. Richards, Sutton and Day all concluded the day with two RBIs as Kullman and Kudrick each posted two runs. Kosar, Kudrick and Ness tallied two hits each.

The Monarchs are back at Lipo Field tomorrow, March 19 for a 3:30 p.m. game against the Nittany Lions of Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
