Monarchs Battled Against Lycoming on Wednesday Night

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 19, 2025) -- It was a battle in McCarthy Stadium as the King's College men's lacrosse team took on the Lycoming College Warriors. The Warriors edged passed the Monarchs, 16-15, in the final seconds. 
 
Lycoming collected the first goal of the game at 13:10. For the next 11 minutes, the two opponents traded shots as time was dwindling down. In the final two minutes, the Warriors gained back-to-back goals before Ben Spencer added a tally to end the first quarter and put King's on the board. The Monarchs entered the second quarter with two straight goals from Grant Parshall and Ryan Lynch. At 12:24, Lycoming was able to find the back of the net, but King's returned the favor with two tallies from John Wall and Matt Dellapi. The Warriors created a 4-0 run with 6:11 left of the half. The Monarchs took control the rest of the way with three unanswered goals from Wall and Ryan Lynch. Heading into halftime the matchup was tied, 8-8.
 
Lycoming opened the second half with two goals in the first two minutes. From then on, the King's defense worked against the Warrior offense causing several turnovers, while also gaining saves by Ryan Rickards. Lycoming found an opening after a successful clear and gained a tally at 9:38. The Monarchs regained control with a 4-0 burst from Ryan Lynch, Brenden Lynch, Zach Webb, and Wall. The defense stayed strong as King's forced a clock violation at 0:47. At the end of the third quarter, King's was up 12-11.
 
The Warriors were not going down without a fight and added two tallies to the board to take the lead at 13:28. The Monarchs stayed composed by causing a clock violation and gaining a man-up opportunity. At 10:47, Dellapi found Jake Cierech to tie the game. For the next four minutes, the teams went back-and-forth. It was an electric final 6:30 as the adversaries traded tallies. Lycoming found the back of the net at 6:10 when King's answered back with two points thanks to Luke Babilon and Spencer. The Warriors went on to score the last two goals to take the win at 16-15.
 
The Monarchs finished with 52 shots, 18-20 clears, 44 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers. Ryan Lynch produced four goals with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Wall was right behind with three goals, an assist, and two ground balls. Spencer collected two goals and two assists. Dellapi picked up nine ground balls with a goal and two assists. Ryan Dolphin pushed the defense with four caused turnovers. In goal, Rickards had 12 saves and seven ground balls.
 
Lycoming ended with 43 shots, 19-24 clears, 46 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers. Joey Hoover had eight goals, an assist, and four caused turnovers. Sean Farrell produced six assists and three goals. Andrew Ednie picked up nine ground balls and Colin Manankil followed with eight. In goal, Ben Franco collected 14 saves and five ground balls.
 
King's is back in McCarthy Stadium to take on Immaculata at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22nd.
