WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 26, 2025) – The King's College baseball team toppled the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge 24-7 on Wednesday night at Lipo Field. With the non-conference win, the Monarchs improve to 6-13 overall as the Patriots fall to 6-14.
Zach Day led the way with four runs, four hits and four RBIs with
Jacob Sutton close behind with two runs, three hits and four RBIs.
The Monarchs' 13-run first inning began with
Kevin Kullman hitting a single through the right side to score
Will Mecca.
Jacob Sutton hit a single and advanced to second on an error, putting
Owen Kosar on third base and bringing both
Jaiden Wanamaker and Kullman home.
Zach Jenkins then hit a single to third base to put
Michael Marmolejos on second, Sutton on third and Kosar home.
Troy Neff kept the offense going with a single to center field, bringing Jenkins to third and two runs home.
Zach Day hit a single through the left side, notching two RBIs as Neff and Jenkins reached home. Wanamaker hit a single and posted two more RBIs as Day and Mecca scored. Kosar then hit a single to third base to advance Wanamaker to second and score Kullman, Sutton hit a double to center field to put Kosar on third and score Wanamaker. One more run was posted as Marmolejos hit a single to put Sutton on third and bring Kosar home for the last run of the inning with the Monarchs leading 13-0.
The Patriots didn't go down without a fight, answering back with four runs in the top of the second inning. The Monarchs added five runs in the second, one in the third, and five in the fourth. Valley Forge's comeback bid in the fifth inning fell short with only three runs to make it 24-7.
Conner Reynolds (2-0) got the pitching win after going five innings with six strikeouts in King's College baseball's win over the University of Valley Forge in their first-ever meeting.
The Monarchs are back home at Lipo Field this Friday, March 28 for a MAC Freedom matchup with the Knights of Arcadia University at 3:30 p.m.
