AMBLER, PA (March 29, 2025) – The King's College baseball team was bested by the Knights of Arcadia University in both games of Saturday's MAC Freedom doubleheader at Skip Wilson Field. With the conference losses, the Monarchs drop to 6-16 overall, 1-8 in conference play as the Knights improve to 16-7 and 7-2.
Game 1 – L, 7-12
In the first game of the afternoon, the Monarchs got on the board first with a double to left center from
Kevin Kullman to bring
Jaiden Wanamaker home. The Knights answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the 2-1 lead.
In the third,
Zach Jenkins hit a single down the right field line to put Kullman on second and score
Troy Neff.
Jacob Sutton followed up with a single to left center to score Kullman before the inning was retired. The Knights again responded with three more runs to regain the lead and make it 5-3.
Wanamaker singled to left center to score
Joshua Quinones in the fourth inning before the Knights tacked on another run. In the fifth, Jenkins notched a run for the Monarchs after
Mikey Timinski grounded out to second base. The following inning, Kullman hit a single up the middle to advance Wanamaker and bring Neff home and Jenkins hit a single to right field to score Wanamaker. Arcadia found an answer once again, this time notching six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the 12-7 win.
Dusty Shaver got the start on the mound for King's, going three innings with one strikeout, but
Ricky Hynick (0-1) was given the pitching loss. Kullman led the team with one run, three hits, and two RBIs, along with Wanamaker's two runs, two hits and one RBI and Jenkins' one run, two hits and two RBIs.
Game 2 – L, 2-12
The Monarchs jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first inning of game two as, with the bases loaded, Jenkins advanced to second base on a wild pitch,
Zach Day went to third, and Wanamaker home. Sutton was walked to advance the runners once more and score Day before the end of the inning.
Those were the only runs scored by the Monarchs as Arcadia went on to post 12 unanswered runs through eight innings.
Colby Gardner notched three strikeouts through two innings on the mound, but
Matt Masala (0-3) was handed the pitching loss for game two. Day finished with one run and one hit and Sutton with one RBI.
The Monarchs next travel up the road to Dunmore, PA on Tuesday, April 1 for a 4 p.m. face off with the Nittany Lions of Penn State Scranton at Matt McGloin Field.
