HOBOKEN, NJ (March 29, 2025) -- The King's College men's dropped their road Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest against #5/#6 Stevens 3-0 and their non-conference battle to #9 Vassar 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Canavan Arena. Against the Stevens Ducks,
Logan Dougherty earned his 500
th kill as a sophomore.

vs. Stevens, L 0-3 (13-25, 13-25, 18-25):
Stevens (21-4, 7-0 MAC) took an early 17-6 lead in the first quarter. Though King's (12-14, 1-6 MAC) worked hard and  created a 4-1 jolt that comprised of
Luke Hammond,
Gavin Gilhool, and
Logan Dougherty. The Ducks regained control and produced a 7-3 run to win the set, 25-13.

The Monarchs pestered Stevens down the stretch, but Stevens had every answer. King's was down 16-8 when Gilhool and
Logan Place gained back-to-back kills. The Ducks eventually took the second set, 25-13.

The third and final set was unlike the previous. The Monarchs had a three-point swing to make the score 4-3 and have a lead. Stevens answered right back with a 7-1 burst. King's scored four straight tallies to get within one of the Ducks, but Stevens responded again with a 6-1 push. The Monarchs were not going down without a fight and produced a 7-2 run that included an ace by Gilhool and a kill by Dougherty. The Ducks were able to edge past the Monarchs and remained victorious, 25-18.

Dougherty had a team-high of five kills with two digs. Gilhool collected three kills and two blocks. Place tacked on three kills to the stat sheet and four digs.
Ben Maskiell dished out 12 assists.

Stevens' Carver Weirick sparked the offense with 12 kills and Tyler Christensen was right behind with 10 kills. Kevin Herbst had 17 helpers of the team's 39 assists and three blocks. Phu-Quy gathered 10 digs.

vs. Vassar, L 0-3 (20-25, 10-25, 18-25):
The crowd witnessed King's and Vassar (19-3, 4-2 UVC) trade tallies with several ties and lead changes in the first set. The Monarchs (12-15, 1-6 MAC) broke free with a 4-1 run that included
Gavin Gilhool and
Logan Dougherty to make the score 9-7. The Brewers irritated King's throughout the set and as the score was even at 11-11, they scored three straight points to take control. From then on, the two enemies went back-and-forth looking to put the other away. King's lost the first set  20-25 after a 4-2 jolt by the Brewers.

The second set was unlike the first as Vassar was fully in control. The Brewers won 25-10.

The Monarchs came back with vengeance and pestered Vassar during the final set. King's was down three when the squad collected a 6-1 push to take a 12-10 lead thanks to
Alex Martellacci,
Greg Bousquet, Dougherty. Though the Brewwers had every answer towards the end and King's fell 25-18.

 Dougherty fueled the offense with nine kills and a hitting percentage of .400.
Ben Maskiell had 14 of the team's 16 assists while having a team-high five digs.
Shawn Hill had three kills and Gilhool was right behind with two.

Vassar's Petar Miocinovic sparked the offense with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .450. Parker Schoenl dished out 19 assists with five digs. Payne Lounsbery followed with their own 17 helpers and five digs.

The Monarchs will return to McGrane Gymnasium with a MAC matchup against Widener at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2
nd. The team will also celebrate their three seniors ahead of the contest.
