WILLIAMSPORT, PA (March 9, 2025) – The King's College baseball team lost to the Warriors of Lycoming College in both games of Sunday's double header at Brandon Park Baseball Field. With the two losses, the Monarchs move to 1-6 as the Warriors improve to 5-5 overall.
Game 1 – L, 6-5
The Monarchs started the afternoon strong as
Zach Day hit a double down the left field line to score
Owen Ness in the first inning. In the second,
Zach Jenkins scored off three fielding errors from the Warriors and
Jacob Sutton hit a single up the middle to score
Owen Kosar. Day scored another run in the third inning to give King's the 4-0 lead. Lycoming put up a run in the bottom of the third to make it 4-1.
In the fourth inning,
Jaiden Wanamaker singled to left center field to push Ness to second base and score Jenkins to post the fifth run of the day for the Monarchs before the Warriors answered back with four runs in the bottom of the inning and one more in the ninth to ultimately secure the 6-5 win.
Vincent Mattio (0-2) was handed the pitching loss while Joel Inman (1-0) snagged his first win of the season on the mound. Jenkins led the Monarchs with two runs as Ness and Day each had two hits in game one.
Game 2 – L, 9-1
The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first four innings, scoring four runs in the third and three in the fourth. In the sixth inning, Wanamaker hit a single through the left side to advance
Kevin Kullman to second and have Day reach home to get the Monarchs on the board. Lycoming scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal their second win of the day. Wanamaker led the Monarchs with two runs as Mason Drozal (1-0) was credited with the pitching win and
Matt Masala (0-1) tabbed the loss.
The Monarchs are back in action on Tuesday, March 11
th as they travel to Aberdeen, MD to participate in the Ripken Experience Baseball Tournament. They are set to face Hood College at 12 p.m.
