ANNVILLE, PA (April 13, 2025) – On Sunday afternoon, the King's College baseball team dropped both games of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader to the Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College. With the conference losses, the Monarchs fall to 10-19, 3-11 in conference play as the Flying Dutchmen improve to 15-15-1, 9-5.
Game 1 – L, 1-12
The Monarchs' only run of game one came in the third inning when
Kevin Kullman hit a single to left field, advancing
Jaiden Wanamaker to third base and
Sean Noone home. The Flying Dutchmen notched one run in the first inning, five in the third, one in each the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth to secure the 12-1 win over the Monarchs.
Senior pitcher
Josh Kilvitis (1-3) recorded the loss on the mound with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings as Lebanon Valley's Jacob Detwiler (3-1) got the win.
Zach Day,
Zach Jenkins and
Jacob Sutton each notched one hit as
Sean Noone posted a run and Kullman had a hit and a RBI.
Game 2 – L, 9-12
Lebanon Valley recorded two runs in the top of the first inning of game two before the Monarchs started to find their offensive rhythm. Day got things going with a single to right center field to put Wanamaker on third and
Troy Neff at home. Kullman singled to center field to put Day on second and score Wanamaker.
Jacob Sutton closed out the inning with a double to right center to score Day and Kullman and give King's the 4-2 lead.
The Dutchmen went on to score one run in the third inning, four runs in the fourth and three in the sixth. The Monarchs answered back in the bottom of the sixth as Day hit a three-run home run to right center field to cut the lead to 10-7.
Two more runs were tacked on in the top of the seventh by Lebanon Valley before Sutton scored on a wild pitch and
Mikey Timinski scored after Neff grounded out to second base. With a scoreless last two innings, the Flying Dutchmen came away with the 12-9 win.
Matt Masala (0-4) took the loss on the mound, handing Lebanon Valley's Michael Williams (2-1) the win for game two. Neff, Wanamaker and Day each had two runs and two hits, along with Day's four RBIs.
The Monarchs host the Flying Dutchmen tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Lipo Field for the final game of the series.
