WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 14, 2025) – The King's College baseball team fell to Lebanon Valley College 11-7 on Monday afternoon at Lipo Field. The Flying Dutchmen secure a series sweep with the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) win to improve to 16-15-1, 10-5 in conference play while the Monarchs move to 10-20, 3-12.
Lebanon Valley scored five runs right off the bat in the first inning. In the second,
Troy Neff hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to bring
Zach Jenkins home and put the Monarchs on the board. The next inning,
Owen Kosar hit a single down the third base line to put
Kevin Kullman on second and to score
Zach Day.
Jacob Sutton followed up with another sacrifice fly to left field to bring Kullman home and cut the lead to 5-3.
The Flying Dutchmen scored three runs each in both the fourth and sixth innings to extend the lead to 11-3 through six. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, Kullman singled through the right side to put Day on second, Wanamaker on third and Neff home.
Jason Cunha was walked with the bases still loaded to score Wanamaker. Pinch runner
Michael Cohen then advanced to second, Kullman advanced to third and Day scored on a wild pitch.
Blaze Graham hit a sacrifice fly ball to score Day before the inning was retired and the Flying Dutchmen secured the 11-7 win.
Kullman led the Monarchs with two runs, two hits and one RBI as Day notched two runs and two hits on the afternoon. Lebanon Valley's Blair Shaffer (2-2) got the win on the mound, handing
Connor Reynolds (4-1) the pitching loss after going three innings with one strikeout.
The Monarchs are back home at Lipo Field on Wednesday as they host the Cougars of Misericordia University for another MAC Freedom contest.
