WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 16, 2025) – The King's College baseball team fell short against the Cougars of Misericordia with a final score of 10-6 on Wednesday afternoon at Lipo Field. The Cougars take game one of the series to improve to 22-12, 10-6 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play while the Monarchs move to 10-21, 3-13.
King's got on the board early as
Owen Kosar singled through the left side to bring
Troy Neff home and give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the first inning. In the third,
Kevin Kullman doubled to center field to score
Zach Day and make it 2-0. The Cougars began to find their rhythm, scoring three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth. Sophomore outfielder
Mikey Timinski hit his first career home run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Cougars' lead to 7-3.
Misericordia put up three more runs in the top of the seventh, but the Monarchs responded back with three runs as
Jaiden Wanamaker hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field, putting Neff on third base and
Sean Noone home. Day singled through the right side to score Neff and Day scored after a single up the middle from
Zach Jenkins, making it 10-6. The scoreless last two innings solidified the conference win for the Cougars.
Neff led King's with two runs and three hits as Day posted two runs, two hits and one RBI. Misericordia's Evan Wittig (3-1) earned the pitching win with
Dusty Shaver (1-3) taking the loss on the mound despite going four innings with three strikeouts.
The Monarchs head up the road to Dallas tomorrow for a doubleheader with the Cougars with the first pitch set for 12 p.m. at Tambur Field.
